Detailed program of the pre_conference workshops.
1. Simulation for Intensive Care Training - T. Schröder, M. sander, G. Bosse Berlin Simulation Training
Practical Simulation Training for Intensive Care Training Providers including a blended learning concept developed in cooperation with the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) This workshop targets medical teachers planning to use simulation as a teaching tool for haemodynamic monitoring as well as intensivists interested in learning haemodynamic monitoring from experts.
Learning objectives will be:
- Defining target audience – who, what, how many
- Less is more – the right learning objectives
- In case a case – key points to create a scenario
- The art of debriefing – where learning takes place
- technical extensions to use - PICCO®, LidCO® or Vigileo and Vigilance® Monitors in simulation
- tips and tricks – pitfalls and red flags
Content of this workshop.
2.Crisis Resource Management - Interactieve Learning Feast - DIMS, ARCADA, SAFER, ADAM, METS, SCSC
Crisis Resource Management (CRM) has strong connections to patient safety, is taught in many simulation courses but poses difficulties as well. Instructors and participants at times lack the insight into the underlying concepts and learning stays superficial. During the interactive CRM learning feast participants will be introduced to and try several tested workshop concepts to help them and their course participants learn about CRM. The exercises aim at improving the conceptual understanding of CRM and related underlying concepts and theory beyond “communication” and “teamwork” into the basics of also the more cognitive concepts in the existing frameworks (e.g. situation awareness). The exercises are presented in a way that allows participants to replicate them. The relevant analysis and debriefing of each exercise will be emphasized.
3. Train The Trainer: Simulation as a tool to improve patient safety - AQAI Simulation Center, Mainz and UMCG
Lecture- clinical case presentation
Lecture- How to perform RCA
Workshop- participants do RCA on clinical case
Workshop- participants define learning goals for SIM scenario
Lecture- How to script a scenario under consideration of predefined learning goals
Workshop- generate patient and scenario (50% Laerdal group; 50% METI group)
Simulation- Present scenario on METI and Laerdal (Video documentation)
Workshop- Laerdal group debriefs METI group and vice versa
Lecture- Feedback on debriefing
Interactive- Summary, Feedback and take home message |
